SEK-CAP to provide public transportation in Bourbon County, Kansas
The Healthy Bourbon County Action Team in Fort Scott is spreading the news about public transportation in that county.
Wheelchair-accessible rides through SEK-CAP will be available to citizens of Bourbon County starting August 28!
A $1 donation per ride is suggested but not required. All proceeds raised will help offset operating costs.
People in the county should call 620-724-6350 to schedule a ride.
This service will run on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those wanting rides are asked call 1 to 7 days in advance for best selection of times. Same-day rides will be given based on availability.
Drivers will be certified with KDOT and meet all training and safety requirements.
Federal Transit Administration and Kansas Department of Transportation 5311 grant supplies 70% of the operating costs, while 30% comes from local matching funds from city/county governments, local businesses grants, and donations.
An LHEAT Grant through The Health Bourbon County Action Team, Peerless Products, Southeast Kansas Mental Health, and Community Christian Church all contributed to help SEK-CAP, Inc. start this route.
