Woman from Joplin seriously injured after vehicle hits utility pole in the road

A woman from Joplin was left with serious injuries after a crash about 3:47 this morning [Monday] on Apple Road about 4 and a half miles south of Carthage.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the wreck occurred when a Honda Ridgeline driven by 35-year-old Ashley D. Johnson of Joplin struck a  utility pole in the road and traveled off the left side of the road, hitting a fence and a tree.

Johnson was seriously injured.

An occupant in her car, 34-year-old Wesley Strickland of Diamond suffered minor injuries.

They were taken by ambulance to a Joplin hospital
