Felon Arrested By Joplin Police K9 at Academy
When they saw him at the Kum and Go on 15th and Rangeline, they recognized him right away as a wanted felon.
The Off-Duty Officer that spotted 40-year-old Miles M. Mittag of Galena on Tuesday evening, called Joplin Police and kept an eye on the felon. Miles was known to have had warrants from Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.
Mittag left the Kum and Go and went to the Academy Sports a few stores south on Rangeline Road and entered the store.
Joplin police quickly responded and set up a parameter. Once they had all the doors covered, keeping Mittag from escaping, they went in.
Once in the store JPD officers and a K9 unit found Mittag in the clothing department and instructed him, several times, to come along peacefully. Miles Mittag refused. He was finally apprehended by the Joplin Police K9. Miles was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, released, and then taken to the Joplin Jail with an added charge of resisting arrest.
