LaTurner questions DOD, GAO officials on accounting practices
Congressman Jake LaTurner of southeast Kansas Thursday questioned Department of Defense (DOD) and General Accounting Office (GAO) officials on what he calls “lax and sloppy accounting practices.”
LaTurner says Kansans have had enough.
The American people find themselves drowning in 32 million dollars of debt,” La Turner said.
“Kansans, like many Americans across our country, are very concerned with the Pentagon’s lax accounting practices,” he added. “The DOD is no stranger to sloppy bookkeeping. They failed five consecutive audits and can’t even tell you how many contractors the Department employs.”
That hearing coming after Pentagon officials announced last month that the agency overestimated the value of weapons sent to Ukraine by $6.2 billion.
