Stolen car recovered, alleged thief taken into custody
A stolen car has been recovered and the alleged car thief taken into custody by the Joplin Police Department.
It all began yesterday morning (Monday, Jan. 11).
Just after 7:30 a.m., a 2001 Dodge Durango was reported stolen to the Joplin Police Department.
Joplin Police Captain Trevor Duncan says this morning just before 6 a.m. a Joplin Police Officer spotted the car heading eastbound on 20th from Main.
The SUV was stopped at 20th and Connecticut.
The driver, 31-year-old Daniel D. Smith of Tulsa was arrested for 1st degree tampering with a motor vehicle and driving while revoked.
The vehicle was returned to the owner.
