Springfield stepping up police presence to fight crime

Almost 50 arrests made since December

Springfield TV station KY3 reporting a major effort in that city to fight crime.

Police patrols have reportedly stepped up in the northern part of Springfield following ongoing complaints from citizens

The complaints dealt with such things as robberies, auto theft and stealing.

Since December, officers have kept an eye on North Glenstone from Kearney to I-44 and other areas, making nearly 50 arrests.

Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams is quoted in the story as saying his department will look at the effort again next month to see if the increased police presence need to continue.
