Celebration of Life Ceremony recognizes organ, eye, tissue donors, recipients
Mercy Hospital Joplin, Freeman Health System, Midwest Transplant Network and Saving Sight to host a Celebration of Life Tuesday evening to honor organ, eye, and tissue donors, recipients, and those still waiting for the gift of life.
The event was held at Mercy Park, 3002 St. John’s Boulevard in Joplin
The Celebration of Life, organized by Mercy Hospital Joplin, Freeman Health System, Midwest Transplant Network, and Saving Sight, honored those whose death gave life to another.
Amanda Goheen of Joplin was one of the people in attendance.
Her father passed away just a few days short of one year ago.
“I do know they said his cornea tissues were used,” she says. “So, it could help a young child or even an elderly adult to see through their life span.”
The evening also allowed for donor recipients to express their gratitude.
Anyone impacted by the gift of organ, eye, or tissue donation was welcome to attend the Celebration of Life.
