Monett Cox Hospital closing maternity department

Monett’s Cox Hospital announced they are closing the maternity department.  

According to a statement from CoxHealth, the shutting down is because of not being able to find enough doctors to staff the unit.  

If patients want to stay with CoxHealth, they will have to travel to Springfield for services, including check-ups and delivery.   

Nearby Mercy Hospital Aurora and Republic still offer maternity services 7 days a week around the clock.
