Feds approve state’s request to help southeast MO recover from tornado
The federal government has approved Missouri’s request for federal disaster aid in response to a deadly tornado hitting southeast Missouri this month.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved Governor Parson’s request for a federal disaster declaration for Bollinger County and surrounding areas.
An April 5 tornado killed five people and injured several others.
At least 37 homes and nine businesses in the county have major damage.
The approval of the request makes qualifying homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits in Bollinger County as well as Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry, Stoddard, and Wayne counties eligible for low-interest disaster loans to help with rebuilding and recovery costs.
The Small Business Administration has set up a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Marble Hill.
