Two killed in DWI accident in Wright County
21-year-old driver charged
The Wright County Missouri Prosecutor has formally charged a 21-year-old Mansfield, Missouri man after his out of control GMC Sierra killed a Mansfield firefighter/ EMT and injured a Mansfield police officer.
The accident occurred on Business Route 60 south of U.S. 60 in Mansfield late at night on April 1 when the Sierra, driven by 21-year-old Kody L. Skaggs of Mansfield, crossed the centerline, went off the roadway and struck a parked Ford F150.
The wreck killed an occupant of the F150, firefighter/EMT 31-year-old Justin L. Sanders of Mansfield.
The driver of the F150, police officer 39-year-old Michael S. Bryson of Hartville, suffered serious injuries.
Sanders and Bryson were doing traffic surveillance at the side of the road at the time of the accident.
Skaggs is charged with Felony DWI- Death of Another Person; First-Degree Assault; and Careless and Imprudent Driving.
He is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond in the Wright County Jail.
