Grand Jury indicts convicted felon for firearm, ammo ownership

Chapter 44 of Title 18 of the United States Code (U.S.C.), federal law bans most convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

A Federal Grand Jury in the Northern District of Oklahoma has indicted a man for being in violation of that law.

Last September, 35-year-old Devan Shay Tiffany of Miami, Oklahoma was allegedly found to be a felon in possession of a Savage Arms 160 gauge double-barrel shotgun and four rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, the shotgun’s barrel was less than 18 inches in length and not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Miami Police Department are the investigative agencies.

The return of an indictment is a method of informing a defendant of alleged violations of federal law, which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.
