Celebrating Dr. King’s legacy with a strike

Today is MLK, Jr. Day.

A group of healthcare workers in the St. Louis area are using the day for a strike.

Workers at Hillside Manor Healthcare & Rehab Center,  represented by SEIU Healthcare Missouri, began a one-day Unfair Labor Practice Strike early this afternoon.

The strikers say Hillside Manor owners have short staffed homes, provided inadequate training, paid low wages and fired union leaders.

At the time of his assassination in 1968, Dr. King was supporting striking sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee.
