Iris Garden Tour planned for Joplin Sesquicentennial
The Joplin Celebrations Commission is planning a city-wide Iris Gardens Tour for May 13 as an official event for Joplin’s 150th birthday celebration.
A map is being developed showing locations Irises can be seen throughout the city.
The Iris is Joplin’s official city flower.
If you have an Iris bed or beds that visible from the street or sidewalk, and you are willing to allow your home or business address to be included on a tour map, the city invites you to e-mail your address and a brief description of the bed/garden location to: info@celebratejoplin.com
The self-paced Gardens Tour will start from the Joplin History & Mineral Museum in Schifferdecker Park
It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Saturday, May 13th during Mother’s Day weekend.
