Mail truck hit by car; Only minor injuries reported
“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”
That famous quote may be true but a traffic accident is another thing.
That’s what happened on County Road 270 a half-mile north of Carl Junction late Friday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a car driven by a 17-year-old juvenile attempted to pass, just as a U.S. mail truck driven by 62-year-old Judy Ray of Carl Junction was trying to make a left turn.
The car hit the mail truck which traveled off the roadway and overturned.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Ray suffered only minor injuries and went to a Joplin hospital by private car.
No injuries were reported for the juvenile driver.
