Beware of Scams in the Area
The Better Business Bureau is warning you about another scam that’s meant to separate you from your money. In this scam, a letter is sent that says you’ve “won” a government grant.
Stephanie Garland from the BBB tells news talk KZRG more.
“… it seemed like it was a great deal. It was tens of thousands of dollars, a ton of money. She really was excited thought she got it, wouldn’t have to pay it back, and all she had to do is pay the taxes ahead of time.”
The Joplin woman ended up paying $450.00 to a scammer instead of getting the $10000.00 she hoped for.
Stephanie warns you that if you haven’t contacted anyone about a subject, and if it seems too good to be true, search the company and check with the better Business Bureau before giving anyone your money or your personal and confidential information.
If you think you or someone you know is the victim of a scam, you should contact the Better Business Bureau.
