Christmas Eve accident in Newton County injures one

A two-vehicle accident in Saginaw on the I-49 Business Loop in Newton County on Christmas Eve around 3 p.m. resulted in injuries to one man.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the wreck occurred when a westbound 2002 Dodge 2500 driven by 47-year-old Alva E. Bailey of Joplin failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a 2018 Chevy Suburban driven by 72-year-old Stephen L. Reed of Joplin.

Reed was transported to Freeman West in Joplin with moderate injuries.

Bailey was not injured.
