Riverton man given 30 month prison sentence in burglary, meth case

A man from Riverton, Kansas, has been sentenced to prison time for burglary and possessing meth.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old John Wesley Potter was sentenced to 30 months in prison in Cherokee County District Court recently.

Potters’ sentence comes after he pled guilty to Burglary and Possessing Methamphetamine.

The charges stem from a November 2020 incident, where Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Burglary of a Riverton home and subsequently arrested Potter, who was also found to be in Possession of Methamphetamine.

Potter was prosecuted by the Cherokee County Attorney’s Office and is being held in the Cherokee County Jail pending transfer to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
