Baxter Springs Raid Nets Drugs, Stolen Property

After a long investigation, a Baxter Springs man is finally behind bars for the burglary of a rural Riverton home more than two months ago. In addition to all of the stolen items recovered from the Grant Street house, Baxter Springs Police and Cherokee County deputies also found meth, pot, and drug paraphernalia Wednesday night. 34-year-old Anthony Paxson was arrested at the scene during the execution of the search warrant. Three children were also removed from the Baxter Springs home.

“While I’m always thrilled when our investigators are able to recover stolen property and remove illegal drugs from this community,  in this case I’m even more proud they were able to get three young children out of a dangerous and unhealthy environment,” concluded Sheriff Groves.

Paxson is held on $25,000 bond in the Cherokee County Jail for Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Trespass, Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Distribute, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and three counts of Aggravated Child Endangerment.
