Pedestrian hit, killed in overnight traffic accident

An overnight traffic accident has has taken the life of a pedestrian.

The Joplin Police Department tells NewsTalk KZRG they were called to the scene of the accident on North Main Street Road immediately south of the Zora Street overpass a little before 3 a.m.

A northbound pickup truck struck and killed a pedestrian reportedly walking on the road.

Joplin Police, Joplin Fire and METS ambulance responded.

All traffic north and south on N Main was closed immediately.

The JPD Major Crash Team began working the accident.

The pickup truck driver was not reported to have been arrested in connection with any violation.
