Missouri Electric Crews Headed to Florida for Hurricane Recovery Assistance
The Missouri Public Utility Alliance says local electric crews are heading to Florida to help with the Hurricane Ian recovery effort.
Line worker crews from 13 utilities are traveling to Orlando and will be dispatched to Florida utilities that need electricity restored after the storm passes.
The 57-plus Missouri workers will be equipped with more than 50 utility vehicles including bucket trucks and digger derrick equipment.
They are joined by a crew from Conway, Arkansas.
Hurricane Ian is expected to make landfall along Florida’s Gulf Coast late Wednesday.
The Florida Municipal Electric Association requested mutual aid from Missouri and the crews left Tuesday morning.
