In the early morning hours of September 4th, 2022, Parsons Police Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Appleton for a reported Aggravated Burglary in progress. Dispatch advised they had received a 911 call about a man that had entered their home and came into their daughter’s bedroom.
The daughter had already escaped and then woke her mother. They both ran into to a bathroom and called 911 to guide authorities to their house. The advised there was still another juvenile in the house that was in a different room.
Officers arrived on scene and witnessed a man, that was quickly identified as 33-year-old Mackenzie Cory Gamblian, leaving the house. Officers quickly took Gamblian into custody. Gamblian began kicking and biting officers in an attempt to get free. Officers transported Gamblian to the Parsons Police Department without further issues.
Officers discovered that Gamblian had entered the residence and went into the daughter’s bedroom, then went through her belongings in the bedroom after she fled the room. Gamblian had left the house with some belongings from the residence when he was arrested.
There was a knife that was located near where Gamblian was arrested but it was not said to have been used in conjunction with the burglary.
Mackenzie Cory Gamblian was recently released from Labette County Jail on July 11th after taking a plea agreement for a 2019 case in which he was arrested.
Parsons Patrol Lieutenant Kyle Wiford said “I am thankful that no one was hurt during this incident. I applaud the quick thinking of the victims to go to a safe space and call authorities. It was because of their quick thinking that officers were able to make a successful arrest while the suspect was still on scene.”
The Parsons Police Department is requesting Mackenzie Cory Gamblian, 33 of Parsons, be charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft, Battery on Law Enforcement Officers 2 counts, and Interference with Law Enforcement Officers.
