Power outage affects Carthage homes, businesses, services
What happens when the power goes out?
People in Carthage went without power for several hours yesterday afternoon
During that time, homes went without electricity, most internet routers didn’t work, even traffic lights suddenly dark.
Some businesses couldn’t sell merchandise because their cash registers no longer worked.
The problem was in an electrical sub-station owned by the Southwest Power Administration just south of the Fair Acres Family Y Complex on Fir Road.
Carthage Water and Electric helped get the power back on. Service went off around 2 p.m. It was restored, for the most part, by around 7:15 p.m.
