JHS Softball field to get new turf

New turf is coming to the Joplin High School softball field.

The current turf has been in place since 2014 and school officials say the fibers, seams and other parts of the field, especially those used the most, are showing their age.

Joplin School Board members were told by two companies they consulted that the cost of returning all four fields at JHS to natural grass would come to more than $1 million a field.

The cost for the JHS Softball field’s new turf will be $355,151.

The new turf will be put in place by Mid America Sports Construction.
