BBB: Getting started the right way is key in making home repairs

Damage to your home means you’re going to have home repairs. But what’s the best way to go about getting things done?

Whitney Quick of the Better Business Bureau says doing your homework can keep you from having big problems down the road.

“Research the company’s track record at our website at BBB.org,” she says. “And you can look at free information on the history of complaints of the business and read customer reviews.”

She says you should also ask for local references and to speak to those customers about their experiences and the company’s quality of work.

She reminds you to call your home insurance company first to check out your coverage before signing any home repair agreement.
