UPDATE: The man’s body has been located.
A water recovery will resume Wednesday morning for a 35-year-old man who reportedly went over The Grand Falls in Joplin but did not resurface.
Several agencies responded to the scene around 4:50pm Tuesday when they got word that the man’s raft went over the 12-foot tall waterfall but he never came out of the water.
The search had to be put on pause around 9pm last night as water conditions were extremely dangerous.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Patrol will lead the operation with Joplin water rescue teams in a support role.
Joplin Fire asks everyone to stay clear of the Grand Falls area as search efforts resume. The area will be closed until further notice.
We’ll have more updates as they become available.
