12-year-old girl accidentally shoots herself in stomach

ST. LOUIS (AP) – Police said a 12-year-old girl accidentally shot herself in the stomach in St. Louis Sunday morning.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday in the Boulevard Heights neighborhood.

The girl was taken to a hospital, but her condition wasn’t known Sunday afternoon.

Police didn’t say how the girl got the gun or release many details about how she shot herself.

The department’s child abuse unit is investigating the incident.
