Four Joplin City Council Candidates discuss views, issues

Four candidates for City Council in Joplin introduced themselves and spoke about issues important to them during a Saturday morning session at the Joplin Greenhouse and Coffee Shop at 2820 E. 32nd.

The candidates included incumbent Doug Lawson, along with hopefuls Kate Spencer, Brian Evans and Dr. Mark Farnum.

The four also answered questions from several of about 20 citizens who turned out for the session.

A total of eight candidates have submitted paperwork to run for council. They include incumbent Gary Shaw (who will run unopposed), Farnham, and incumbent Diane Reid Adams.

General seat candidates include Jon Buck, Josh Detar, Evans, Lawson and Spencer.

Council members Ryan Stanley and Anthony Monteleone will not run for additional terms.

The election is slated for April 11.
