Locker room incident leads to suspension of several JHS football players
An incident in a locker room Thursday evening has led to the suspension of several Joplin High School football players, including some starting members of the team.
The suspensions reportedly stem from a group shoving match against one player who was said to have been hit in the face. The incident was captured on video.
Joplin High School Athletic Director Matt Hiatt released the following statement:
“We are aware of an incident that took place at Joplin High School on Thursday evening. As we take all allegations very seriously, we are in the process of investigating the incident. Appropriate actions have been and will continue to be be taken. Law enforcement has been involved where appropriate.”
As a result of the incident, the players who were suspended were not allowed to play in the district quarterfinal game against Lee’s Summit Friday night.
