Heavy Flames and Explosions Rocked a North Joplin Neighborhood Last Night
Flames were shooting from a home at 301 South Pearl and witnesses reported the sound of explosions as the Joplin Fire Department arrived on the scene last night.
Fire Chief Jim Furguson tells News Talk KZRG that the fire started in the garage area and quickly spread to the home. Six people in the structure escaped without harm, but one man,Douglas Hall, was taken to a local hospital with burns on his face and hands and later was transported to the Springfield Burn Center.
Also while batteling the blaze, Fire Captian Scott Hubler suffered a minor injury but was able to return to work.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Joplin Police Department and Joplin Fire Department as a possible arson. We will give you updates as they become available.
