New roundabout open in Carthage

After several months of construction, a roundabout is now open in Carthage.

Motorists will no longer have to use detours to avoid the work area.

The roundabout, one of several in the area, serves a 5-way intersection at 571 Highway, Fairlawn Avenue, Garrison Avenue and Elk Street in Carthage.

Work crews from MoDOT have also been working on sidewalk improvements in that area.

There are some final touches that crews need to complete but the busy section of roadway in Carthage – which has been closed for several weeks – is open again.
