Mother ordered to stand trial for child abuse and neglect

A judge in Lawrence County yesterday reportedly ordered 30 year old Bethany G. Meyer to stand trial on two felony counts of child abuse and neglect  in connection with alleged abuse of her 3-year-old son from Aurora.

Reports say the child was brought to a Springfield hospital last fall covered with bruises and with an injury to his genitals. That prompted authorities to investigate the mother and her boyfriend, 33-year old Zachary A. Honorof.

A physician reportedly said the child showed evidence of blunt force trauma.
