One person killed and four others injured after Sunday morning vehicle crash
The incident occurred at 2 AM on Kafir road
One person was killed and four others seriously injured in a crash that took place Sunday morning at 2 AM in Jasper County.
The incident occurred on Kafir Road, 2 miles north of Oronogo.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol report says the vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Sienna, traveled off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, crossed the centerline, overcorrected, and then collided with a tree.
There were serval occupants in the vehicle; four of the passengers sustained serious injuries.
20-year-old Brenda Lopez, 21-year-old Aracely Mejia, 24-year-old Gladys Oxlath, and Saul Irahate of unknown age, all from Carthage, were transported by EMS to Mercy Joplin.
The driver of the vehicle was Carthage High School student Victor Reyes, who died at the scene.
The Carthage R-9 School District confirmed this Monday morning in a Facebook post.
