Oklahoma resumes distribution of Johnson & Johnson shot
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma health officials say they are resuming distribution of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Deputy Health Commissioner Keith Reed announced the plan on Monday.
The decision comes following a recommendation from both the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration.
Both agencies had recommended a pause in the distribution of the one-dose vaccine after reports of rare blood clotting. Fifteen cases were identified among nearly 8 million doses administered.
State health officials say the one-dose vaccine is ideal for rural areas and for people who may have problems scheduling more than one appointment.
