Kansas legislature considers wind farm restrictions
A bill working its way through the Kansas legislature would place some big restrictions on wind farms in Kansas.
The bill would regulate areas where wind turbines can be placed and how construction is approved.
Many advocates of energy advocates oppose the bill.
If the legislation is passed, turbines would have to be a mile and a half from any home, three miles from airports and parks and one mile from another person’s property line.
41 percent of electricity in Kansas comes from wind energy – the second-highest percentage of all 50 states.
