Court date set for man who involved in gas station assault.
A man from Marionville waived a right to his preliminary hearing last week which stemmed from an incident where the man got into a conflict with a couple outside a convenience store.
A gun was pulled and the man tried to run the couple over with his truck.
41-year-old Ryan Wehofer waived his hearing on Thursday in Lawrence County Circuit Court and is to stand trial for two counts of first-degree assault and a single count of armed criminal action.
His next court date is set for February 8.
According to court documents, a woman and her husband pulled into a Casey’s convenience store parking lot in Marionville on November 1.
The woman parked the vehicle with the headlights facing the trailer home of Wehofer, who came outside and began yelling for her to turn off the vehicle’s lights. The husband then got out of the vehicle and confronted Wehofer, who called the husband a derogatory name, which then resulted in the husband punching Wehofer.
Wehofer then went to his truck, pulled a knife out, and attempted to stab the husband several times. He then chased the husband around the vehicle and eventually went up to the woman and put the knife to her chin.
According to court documents, she then pulled out a gun, which made Wehofer retreat to his vehicle and make an attempt to run them down before leaving the area.
