Sunday afternoon wreck kills two people.
Update: Reports from the Joplin Police Department say that the vehicle traveling northbound was a Ford SUV driven by 55-year-old Terry Copple and had one passenger, 48-year-old Rhonda Copple, both from Joplin.
They both died from their injuries after a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 30-year-old Joplin resident Rita Glasgow, crashed into them when she traveled westbound on 28th street at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a stop sign located at 28th and Connecticut.
Glasgow was transported to a hospital for serious injuries and remains hospitalized but still in custody.
Glasgow was driving while intoxicated, had controlled substances in her possession, was driving a stolen vehicle, and had previous charges against her.
The Joplin Police Department says they are seeking charges against Glasgow for, “Murder in the 2nd Degree (2 Counts), Driving While Intoxicated, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Glasgow also had active felony warrants out of Jasper County for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

A Sunday afternoon wreck took the lives of two people, with one person now in custody.
The incident happened just before 4 PM at 28th and South Connecticut in Joplin.
According to published sources, a truck was traveling west on 28th while another vehicle was northbound.
The truck t-boned into the second vehicle and caused them both to go off-road into a northwestern yard.
Names have not been released at this time.
