Bipartisan Duck Boat Legislation Heading to U-S Senate Floor
After being stuck in committee for 19 months, bipartisan duck boat legislation is heading to the U-S Senate floor.
The bill, which is sponsored by Missouri Senators Josh Hawley and Roy Blunt, was approved Wednesday in committee by a UNANIMOUS voice vote.
The bill would require the U-S Coast Guard to implement recommendations from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), including requiring duck boats to remove canopies. Senator Blunt describes those recommendations as commonsense safety measures that are long overdue, and says they should be put into effect immediately.
17 people were killed in the 2018 duck boat tragedy on southwest Missouri’s Table Rock Lake.
