Some Missouri school districts have been discussing the potential liabilities they face if someone at school becomes infected with COVID-19. State Education Commissioner Margie Vandeven (van-DEE-ven) was asked if Missouri will address the issue.
“I think that’s certainly going to be discussed in the upcoming sessions,” Vandeven says. “I know we’ve heard a lot about that. Like right now, a lot of those things need to take place at the local level. But I think you have been hearing statewide and national discussions about liability issues.”
In May, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on the governor to hold a special legislative session to deal with “the growing problem of opportunistic COVID-19 lawsuits.”
