A new bill to help fund the military in Missouri passes its first hurdle

The defense authorization bill has passed the House and another in the Senate- despite the presidents threat to veto over changing military bases from confederate names.

Senator Josh Hawley voted for the bill today- but is still hoping for there to be hearings on changing base names. Hawley said, “Let’s see what final form the bill takes … ”

This bill is important to Missouri. It authorizes resources for the new hospital at Fort Leonard Wood and the Next NGA West facility in St. Louis. It also would assure continued investment in the B-21 Raider, which will be based at Whiteman Air Force Base. Plus the bill would fund the C-130H modernization program at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base.

Both bills passed with a large margin of bipartisan support-  enough support to override a Trump veto.
