Phase one of Missouri’s reopening plan extended

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has extended phase one of the state’s “Show Me Strong Recovery Plan” thru Monday, June 15. This extends social distancing guidelines as well as limited capacity for most businesses.

Any entity that employs individuals that is engaged in retail sales to the public, shall limit the
number of individuals in any particular retail location as follows:

(1) 25% or less of the entity’s authorized fire or building code occupancy, as set by local authorities, for a retail location with square footage of less than 10,000 ft²;
(2) 10% or less of the entity’s authorized fire or building code occupancy, as set by local authorities, for a retail location with square footage of 10,000ft² or more.

Parson says businesses have done a great job of implementing health and safety measures but some communities have been hit harder than others. Extending the order allows for those communities to catch up to the state. It also aligns the state with the state of emergency order.

“We are extending phase one, not because Missouri has taken a step back, but because we want to make sure we are fully prepared for phase two. Nothing about phase one has changed as long as social distancing and other necessary health and safety measures are implemented, businesses can still be open.”

Before the order Thursday, Phase two was set to start Monday June 1.
