Mondays storms caused havoc throughout Missouri

Monday’s severe weather in southern Missouri blew tractor trailers over on I-44 in Lebanon.

KOLR-10 reports one semi blew over on eastbound I-44, while the other blew over on westbound I-44, across from each other. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Springfield says the damage appears to be from straight-line winds.

The storm system has also left several thousand residents without power in southwest Missouri’s Laclede County. Laclede Electric Cooperative (LEC) has about 6,000 members without power. LEC says those members should be prepared to be without power until Wednesday afternoon. The Co-op also says there is extensive damage to its power infrastructure in the area, including multiple broken poles and transmission lines.

NWS Springfield meteorologist Michael Albano says that the Springfield office issued a COMBINED total of 54 severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings on Monday. Two were tornado warnings
