Neosho Council to discuss enacting “shelter in place” order

The Neosho City Council will meet Monday evening at 6 p.m. in special session in the City Hall Council Chambers at 203 E. Main Street in Neosho to consider enacting a stay at home or “shelter in place” order.

Neosho passed an ordinance on March 21st prohibiting gatherings of over ten people. There have been 3 confirmed positive cases of COVID-019 in Newton County.

Neosho Mayor Dr. William JP Doubek also sent this note to the Citizens of Neosho:

“Based on interest demonstrated since the posting of a Special Called Council Meeting . . . I must remind all citizens of the current social distancing mandate and requirement for congregations of no more than 10 persons.

“As this is uncharted territory in the history of Neosho, I am requesting that any person wishing to address his/her concerns or support for this ordinance please forward an email to questions@neoshomo.org

“At Monday’s council meeting your email shall be read for all members to consider. I further request that such emails be specific to addressing the topic to be considered, “Should the City of Neosho issue a Stay at Home order?”

“Anyone wishing to read the ordinance to be considered may find it on the City’s webpage and Facebook link.
