Police chase ends in arrests

Who says Mondays are boring? Just ask one homeowner at 18th and Grand after a couple of car thieves plowed through his yard, and mowed over several fences in a hopeless effort to evade the police.

Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings tells News Talk KZRG that it all started near Downstream and ended with three people in the Newton County Jail Monday morning.

An SUV reported stolen in Newton County was spotted near the casino. Newton County deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, they refused, so a chase ensued, which continued into Joplin.

At one point, in an effort to avoid the police, the stolen vehicle went into an ally and then through three separate fences and hit a parked car in the 1800 block of South Grand.

Joplin Police arrested three people who have not yet been identified; two white males, and a white female.

All three have been transported to the Newton County Jail on a multitude of pending charges.
