Former Jayhawk to discuss living with a disability
Living with a disabling illness or injury: The person who experiences the injury is most dramatically effected but so are friends, family and community.
Living with a disability will be the subject of a talk by former K.U. Jayhawk linebacker Eric Washington next Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Independent Living Center, 2639 E. 34th in Joplin.
Washington suffered a career-ending neck injury during a football game as a Kansas Jayhawk.
Washington, a former linebacker, has taken on a new responsibility, addressing to organizations nationwide in order to raise awareness of living with brain and spinal cord injuries and to providing support to people with disabilities, friends and family members.
The 1 p.m.talk is free to attend.
