Joplin Bungalows to provide space for homeless veterans, elderly seniors
They’re called the Joplin Bungalows — 20 housing units located at 20th and McCoy in Joplin.The Economic Security Corporation is now taking applications for residents.
“These are for homeless veterans so there will be nine bungalows for homeless veterans and 11 that are for seniors 65 and older,”says Debbie Markm
Markman says the fully-furnished homes were funded through Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery funds.
Applications are being accepted at the ESC office at 302 S. Joplin Avenue.
The one-bedroom homes come with utilities (electric, sewer and water) included in the monthly rent. They are pet-friendly and include stoves, refrigerators, microwaves and washer-dryers.
There is a storm shelter on-site.
The bungalows are located close to grocery stores, the Area Agency on Aging, a hospital and Joplin City Parks.
