City council moves forward with raising tobacco age

As soon as January 5th you might have to be 21 or older to buy tobacco and vaping products in Joplin. The City Council gave first round approval to an ordnance Monday night that aims to prevent teenagers from becoming addicted to nicotine. They’ll vote on it again at their next meeting and if approved it would go into effect 20 days after that.
