Company treats over 1,000 Joplin area homes for bedbugs

At one time, it was a problem confined to hotels and motels but now bedbugs have moved on to homes and apartments. That’s according to Rorie Hansen, Manager of Bug-A-Way Pest Control in Joplin.

“We’re getting dozens of calls a day regarding bed bugs,” Hansen says.

Hanson says the bugs are hard to get rid of and the problem doesn’t seem to be improving.

“We’re well over one thousand homes in the Joplin area being treated for bedbugs,” he adds.

Hansen says the bugs are becoming resistant to sprays.

He says heat treatments can work effectively but are expensive for most home-owners.
