Governor Kehoe orders the Missouri State Capitol dome to shine pink for breast cancer awareness

JEFFERSON CITY - Governor Mike Kehoe has ordered the Missouri State Capitol dome to shine pink, beginning at sunset on Thursday, October 1, 2026, until sunrise on Friday, October 2, 2026, in recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
"By lighting the Capitol dome pink, the State of Missouri is affirming our support for every breast cancer survivor, patient, and family who knows this fight," said Governor Kehoe. "Breast cancer touches the lives of countless families across our state, and tragically, we lose about 800 women to this disease each year in Missouri. Early detection through regular screenings, along with access to treatment and support, remains essential to saving lives."
Approximately 6,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in Missouri, making this type of cancer the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Missouri.
The Capitol lighting serves as a visible reminder of the importance of awareness, education, and early detection. Resources are available statewide to help Missourians access breast cancer screenings and support services.
