A 21-year-old man from Commerce is now facing a federal firearms charge while separate felony cases remain pending against him in Delaware County.

A federal grand jury indicted Maddox Isaiah Cummings on a charge of making a false statement to acquire a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

Federal prosecutors allege Cummings attempted to purchase a firearm while claiming he was not under indictment and had never been convicted of a felony. Prosecutors say both statements were false.

The federal indictment now lists Cummings as a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cummings has also been charged in Delaware County with procuring, producing, distributing or possessing child sexual abuse material, blackmail and intimidation of a witness.

Those allegations stem in part from a case involving a girl who was 16 at the time.

Investigators allege Cummings threatened to publish sexually explicit videos of the teenager online if she did not comply with his demands and later posted the videos when she refused.

A Delaware County judge issued a bench warrant for Cummings in August after he failed to appear for a preliminary hearing.

His bond was increased to $30,000.

Cummings has not been convicted of the newly filed federal charge, and the indictment is an allegation that must be proven in court.
