JOPLIN, Mo. — One Joplin's upcoming Thrive Project strategic planning session will focus on strengthening family support and social connection throughout the Joplin Region.
The session will be held Tuesday, September 8, at 9:15 a.m.-10:30am at Community Support Services, 809 S. Illinois Ave., Joplin.
The Thrive Project is a community-driven effort focused on improving health and quality of life in the Joplin Region by addressing the conditions that influence how people live, work, grow, and age. The developing Thrive Joplin Blueprint identifies four interconnected areas for coordinated community action, including Family Support and Social Connection.
A Community Planning Session in Action
During Tuesday’s session, participants will take part in an interactive whiteboard exercise designed to map the organizations, individuals, programs, and resources already connected to five proposed strategies and identify additional partners who should be brought to the table.
Participants will explore strategies focused on:
Expanding Opportunities for Play and Connection
Activating Faith Communities as Neighborhood Hubs for Connection and Belonging
Strengthening Support for Older Adults, Individuals with Disabilities, and Caregivers
Connecting Families to the Right Help
Connecting Families to Greater Childcare Options
The goal is not to create new programs where strong work already exists, but to identify what is working, connect organizations and community members around shared priorities, uncover gaps, and turn the Blueprint’s recommendations into coordinated action.
Nicole Brown, Executive Director of One Joplin shared “This is where the Thrive Project begins moving from ideas to action. Our region has amazing businesses, nonprofits, civic groups, churches, and educational institutions. This session is about getting people connected, identifying where we can work together, and making sure the right partners are at the table.”
